High track temperatures negated the usual Mercedes advantage in being able to warm up its tyres when the others would normally struggle. The Ferrari was quickest in every sector as a result of having the tyres in the optimum temperature window. Maybe this is all the proof we need to revert back to regular tyres to restore F1 interest
Brazil and Mexico would be favourable to us then.. the altitude and high track temperatures hurt Mercedes more it seems..
Then there is Spa, Monza and a couple of others maybe
2 pole positions out of 3 events tells me that binotto is evolving the Ferrari and it's improving week in week out .Now for a race win as reward .
Did you happen to miss that the teams decided not to revert back to the old tires friday the 28th june?

The only chance of having exciting races, was thrown away, just laughable.
"Formula 1 is not a sport anymore” - Fernando Alonso
The front 4 drivers will make this race exciting! Let these millionaire drivers work to get their tires hot ! Charles' pay is peanuts compared to Seb; and look whose on pole!
Pole lap, sorry if already posted.

Flawless ! Spectacular lap by Charles
Remember my friends, we win as a team, and we lose as a team.
Let's give them hell today. Forza Ferrari.
Lewis finished 5th. !!! F-1 is saved. Even if it's Max, anyone that can move Lewis, Merc out of the win deserves to be cheered for! Ferrari pit wall to pit.... ? That call didn't happen? What else is going to happen @ Ferrari?
F1 isn't saved. Trust me, that merc performance was a one-off. Unless every other race this year has track temps of 50 +, Hamilton will guaranteed win the WDC and merc will have plenty more 1-2's. The only saving grace is that Bottas is really awful and will easily be beaten by Max/Leclerc/Vettel. I truly hope this year can be saved with some wins from RB and Ferrari, but it doesn't look good.
Side note, the conspiracy theorist in me wants to believe that the FIA/Merc/Pirelli consortium gifted the Austrian F1 fans that win after the disaster of Canada and France. After France, social media blew up with people saying they were done with F1 forever, convenient how quickly an exciting race was provided. Right?

So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.
I know right. How convenient that Max, with no pace from RB wins the Austrian GP 2 years in a row? Where did that pace come from? Right after the win all the pundits/announcers - "that win will surely convince Honda to stay in F1 after they were thinking of leaving" - "all the fans who tweeted after France that F1 is dead, is F1 dead now? is it boring?" so convenient.
Edit - Even Horner cant explain the pace. LOL

F1 must have hired writers from the Young and the Restless to orchestrate its show.

Race wasn't really that exciting though? Some DRS passes other than the drama at the end was not really anything special? Are Ferrari also part of this conspiracy? You among others have complained about the thinner tyres have you not? the tyres that make us and Red Bull struggle to get up to temps? so maybe just maybe the track temps gave us better use of the tyres and showed that our cars are not all that bad when the tyres are working??? but that would not suit any conspiracy theory unless FIA/Merc/Pirelli made it hot in Europe.....
Forza Ferrari
The fact that Max "drove !" his way up to 2nd, place was driving to win , nothing fixed. The final move with Charles could not have happened if Max wasn't up into 2nd. place. And with a Honda engine ? He deserved the win! SEB ! Where are you?? You have 11 years on Charles and he brings his car to 2nd. place?
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.
Seb did fine given the machinery & circumstances. That was our pace this race - much faster than Merc but quite behind Max / Redbull combo. Remember that Seb also had that dreadful pit stop and that issue in quali that stopped him from starting 1st/2nd(most likely 2nd since Charles was faster than him in quali). Without any of the issues he had, he would have finished either 3rd right behind Charles or 2nd in front of Charles.
Seb had machinery much faster than Merc, but behind Honda R Bull? Charles for sure was faster in quali. as you say. Probably without any issues Lewis, Bottas and Seb would have done better. Max's driving overcomes his issues and he winds up winning. No where near a pole and still comes up on Charles and passes him to win. This is what a 4x er should be doing. Honda R Bull is not a better piece of machinery than Ferrari. Charles is the hope for Ferrari with or without issues he seems to be doing what we need him to do.
Note that I stated that Ferrari was behind Max / Redbull combo, not just Redbull. Honestly I have no idea where to place that Redbull - performance wise. Up until Austria I thought it was a bit behind Ferrari and only Ferrari botched strategies allowed Max to finish in front of our drivers. Then in Austria in the hands of Max their car had a lot more pace than us. I get your idea that a 4xWDC should somehow do something more... find some magic and do something astonishing that will make you remember why he is a multi WDC... but with today's rules and drivers so dependent on cars' ability to get that piece of .... rubber to work, I think we're expecting a bit too much of Seb. Also look how rubbish Lewis - a 5xWDC and an overall better driver than Seb - looked in a car that just didn't work on that circuit.
So far the only driver that *seems* to do wonders in inferior machinery is Max. Or Max looks to be so good because his team mate Gasly is the slowest driver on the current grid.
Monaco is a special case. If you have pole, keep the position at the start and emerge 1st after pit stop(s), then there's a ~90-99% chance that you will win the race. It doesn't matter if the car behind you is 2 seconds faster. Have a look at 1992 Monaco GP, when Mansell couldn't pass Senna in the closing stages of the race, even though he was over 2 seconds faster than him.
“Ferrari were quicker for the ninth time in 14 races at Monza”, So before Singapore it was 9-5 to Ferrari.
Mercedes was definitely faster than Ferrari in Singapore, so 9-6, Russia and Japan was inconclusive because of obvious reasons. Now the article says Mercedes was faster than Ferrari in US and Mexico!? What!? Raikkonen won GP of US because Ferrari was faster and Mercedes had no answer to Ferrari's race pace in Mexico, Merc was simply awful there.
Hamilton was leading Vettel by 65 points after Mexico, mainly because of Vettel's countless mistakes. But obviously hardcore Vettel fangirl like yourself are only going to blame the car while ignoring your idol's total brain fade moments behind the wheel.
Once again, you are butt hurt that what you thought to be true turned out differently. If you win a race, that doesn't mean you have the fastest car. Vettel won Bahrain 2018 but Mercedes was the fastest. Even Sky called it a Vettel victory rather than a Ferrari victory. So the article still stands - Mercedes had the fastest and best car in 2018 and like always, you remain deluded to the core.
Yeah, lets ignore Vettel's 7-8 mistakes to Hamilton's 0.
And why are talking about Bahrain? do you actually follow races? Vettel was on soft tyres for 39 laps and he had to nurse them towards the end. But still Bottas couldn't pass him...because the Ferrari was simply superior. No wonder it gave Vettel the pole position.
And why are you ignoring Germany, Italy, France, Japan and US? Vettel lost nearly 60-70 in those races.
Fact is Ferrari gave Vettel a car which was both fast and reliable. And he got trashed by Hamilton. The thrashing was so bad that it turned psychological...and now Vettel goes spinning or goes off track every time when he sees Hamilton's #44 on his rear view mirror.
T-1993, Great post!! Prost said the same thing . His worst racing fear was seeing Senna's yellow helmet in his mirror! !
