I hate all the changes they make in the off season (separate to the car, obviously) that make it impossible to quantify the cars improvement! Track resurfacing and softer tyres make it impossible to know what our improvement is over testing last year. It would be great if we had a direct comparison. Much more intriguing.
I know it’s ridiculously early to draw any conclusions... but Renault could be back on form this season?? Interesting
Wow...Hulk and Renault in sub 1:20's...interesting
Drive it like you stole it!
Kimi already down to 1: 20,506 and on 49 laps so far!!
But i did notice that his changed to the soft wall tyres.......
Drive it like you stole it!
Kimi on softs already.... I wonder the reason in the morning on day 1 of testing to bother with softs? Last year I liked our strategy of just pounding around on mediums as much as possible... I can’t think of a reason to jump to softs so soon. Any suggestions?
Mclaren confirms a loose wheel nut was the cause of Alonso's spin.....no big deal according to Zak Brown.
From espn:
Worth remembering Pirelli's compounds have all effectively moved down one this year - this year's medium is like last year's soft, due to the improvements the Italian company has made with its tyres. That has already been reflected in the headline times we are seeing next to every driver's name.
Maybe we are testing the new allocations?
~FORZA FERRARI~
Yeah but this essentially means he set that time on what was last years super soft. Why would we want a time on super softs this early in the programme? I’m just overly concerned I’m sure, but it smells of 2016 testing (after a relatively successful 2015) and we all know how ‘16 turned out...
I would have thought we just need miles right now? Run the engine in, set the car up so it feels good, test aero and/or new parts. Why soft (2016 super soft) tyres? Any ideas??
Nando back in the car.
Because this year Pirelli offers more different compound types. Interesting to learn the behaviour of the car.
typical Mercedes.....on mediums
now RedBull....DR
LUNCHTIME....
Renault and STR with 71 and 70 laps. Impressive so far.
Time of the afternoon section ??
FERRARI FOR EVER !!!!!!!
Its only first day of testing. We dont know fuel loads,or setup, but it doesn't look as good as last year.
Lets wait for Sebastian...Red Bull seems strong, and Mercedes is the usual Mercedes.
Renault and Honda powered teams probably assessing engine modes while Ferrari and Merc running different programmes. As long as we do a good number of laps and aren't too far from the top, nothing to worry about.

Thats one GP race mileage down.
I’m trying not to be dramatic, because I really disliked that about this forum last year, but I can’t shake the feeling that redbull has leapfrogged us. Their package just looks.... innovative.
Time will tell. Trying to stay cool for the time being.
