Bottas yesterday....
Bottas was not pushing at all.....yesterday
Valtteri Bottas becomes the seventh driver to take to the track, with the Mercedes staying out for a second lap before retreating to the relative warmth of the garage.
It was a solid rather than spectacular opening day for the world champions yesterday, with the afternoon rain meaning the team opted to cut short their afternoon programme, when Lewis Hamilton was in the car.
But Bottas got a better feel in the morning and delivered a positive verdict on the W09:
"Our first morning here in Barcelona was very positive," he said. "We got everything done that we had planned. The main mission for the morning was to gather aerodynamic data, so I was doing runs at constant speeds. I got a few practice laps for myself as well; but that kind of running was very limited. We didn't do any performance running, so I haven't pushed the W09 to its limits yet.
"The initial feeling of the car was good, it was behaving well. I couldn't point out any negatives compared to last year's car, only positives so far."

Very difficult track conditions @Circuitcat_eng for everyone this morning ❄️ It's icy and slippery so we are making the most of #F1testing lap by lap!
BREAKING! There will be no stop lunch today. Session will run from 9AM to 6PM. So, pitlane walkabout has been cancelled.
Forecast for tomorrow is early snow then heavy rain through the day, so teams eager to maximise dry running today where possible.

The good news - and believe us, there is some - is that, contrary to some of the forecasts we looked at yesterday, there's no rain or snow in sight at the Circuit de Catalunya this morning.
The track temperatures are rising, we're nearly in double figures, and *hopefully* we're not too far away from the teams feeling the track is ready for some more sustained running.
