Mercedes worked on every part of a car and even reduced weight by 5kg and if Ferrari can be close to them it should be a good season because I think that they can't improve that "boat" by a lot from this grand prix.
On the other hand Ferrari has a lot of potential for improving.
From GianluAccording to Motorsport, Seb will have an upgraded engine this weekend. The new ICE will be mounted on the car tomorrow.Apparently Kimi won't have the new engine this weekend, as he already changed the 2nd unit in Bahrain - reliability issues

New MGU-K for both of our drivers (2nd Unit)
İs this a new engine with new double injection?
thanks
i don't know what to make of this session really probably nothing

Kimi and Seb 3rd and 4th fastest in first free practice
Montmelō, 12 May –The first session for the fifth round of the season, the Spanish Grand Prix, has just come to an end. Kimi Raikkonen was third quickest with a time of 1:22.456, while his team-mate Sebastian Vettel’s best lap of 1:22.600 was good enough for fourth on the time sheet. For this first session, Scuderia Ferrari opted to start on the Hard tyre, before switching to the Medium. Over the 90 minutes of track time, work on the SF70H centred on evaluating various new solutions introduced this weekend. At one point, Seb’s car suffered a small problem on the left rear wheel, which was quickly fixed.
CAVALLINO RAMPANTE PER SEMPRE
I think it's gonna be a Mercedes weekend all along. They have a heck ton of upgrades and they also love the harder tyres more than we do.
Disappointing; 2009 to 2016...
Early sunset to me. We will know more race day!!

PIRELLI DEFINES
Why are the tire pressures so high?
Pirelli has increased the air pressure of the rear tires by 2 PSI compared to the test runs in Barcelona. Although there were no problems with the test drives. We asked why the change had been made.
Pirelli surprised the teams before GP Spain. After the Italian tire supplier in the first four races Moderate air pressure, he went in Barcelona the opposite way. At the front, the tires are pumped with 22.5 PSI, rear with 20.0 PSI. This is half a PSI more than during the test drives in the winter, at the rear still a proud 2 PSI.
Pirelli explains the return to the policy of caution with the aerodynamics upgrades. Technician Mario Isola: "We got the new output data from the teams three weeks before the race. They are massively higher than before. Especially in the stern. We reacted to that. "
Simulations in the laboratory in Milan
Isola also says that this is not the last word spoken. "After the first training day, we will check the situation again. When everything is in the green range, we go back with the pressures. "These tests include not only the Pirelli technicians cutting up various tires and investigating possible damage.
The second part of the analysis Takes place in the labs in Milan as Isola says: "We take a qualifying round from each car and a round with a lot of gasoline on board. Based on the data of wheel camber, velocities and the forces on the tires, it is simulated which tire pressure is necessary. We have certain formulas to do. "
Transport damage to Pirelli
The excitement around allegedly 78 disappeared Pirelli Tire is also elucidated. They have not disappeared. Pirelli found only four transport damages. The tires had touched during transport. "We exchanged the tire sets against new ones. They had to be delivered. That's why they were not in Barcelona until 4pm on Thursday. "
may be due to higher tyre pressure, ferrari sufferred in FP1..??
Yeah, these pirelli are giving a hard time for the drivers & teams.
Its like they are ruling the show. Changing the compounds relative to the track & Unstabilizing tyre pressures. It's not good for F1. Atleast they should consult teams to even discuss regarding tyre pressures.
This might hand championship advantage to any one of the team, how could they do like this. I'm unable to understand.
on with fp2.
Forza Ferrari
13:58 Vettel stopped in the pit exit with what he reported to be a gearbox problem this morning. Looks like there may be a problem at Ferrari again now - work going on around the car as Vettel, ready in his race suit and helmet, looks on from the pitlane. - AS
Heard that if there's no problems in fp2.they will lower back to the normal pressure
#PrayforMH370 #KeepFightingSchumi
on other note, drivers will find hard to have the grip on these tyres with those high tyre pressures.
