We were 4seconds behind Mercedes with 18 laps remaining and VET was closing the gap. Then he did a few mistakes lap after lap..
I did not dismiss undercut... What I'm saying is, that it is 50:50 chance and this is always there, when you are figting with somebody. It doesn't have anything to do with who is faster. Nothing more. Of course it is significant piece of strategy ;)
And your "says a lot" is not polite at all.

Undercut is not really that big of an advantage with such hard and consistent tyres like we had here. Having that in mind, it's easy to be smarter now, but it really does look like we should have stayed out on track and defended the position cause otherwise we were forcing Vettel to overtake a faster car on track.
Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time.
Judging by Rosberg that could not pass other cars easily the whole race we don't know how Hamilton would react if he had to try and pass vettel. We should have stayed out and see how it goes not give them the race on hand. We already knew that mercs are super friendly on soft tyres.
There, Seb just said it, Ham was too fast, so we're still not on par. I guess no point to discuss futher if we should have stayed out or not.
Seb is blaming wind for lockup. So our excuse for this weekend WIND
Fight with passion, win with pride, lose with respect, but never give up.
Nothing to do with being an expert. The point is that others aren't making these kind of calls. Mercedes didn't give us a win today by making a strange call.
Look ok at the facts: We had a stable gap to Lewis. In fact, we had pulled out the gap after Seb missed the chicane. Lewis couldn't pass for a few laps even with DRS. So where did they get the idea that our tyres were fairing any worse than Mercedes? Evidently they weren't. Hence, the decision was weird.

How many mistakes can this team make, I feel sorry for arrivabene having to take the flack for the idiot strategist and useless driving. Vettel was a great driver yet now he's with Ferrari he makes the same mistake at the chicane about six times. In two years Hamilton will join Ferrari and then drive hopelessly no doubt. I'm so fed up of second place.. Ten bloody years
One day we may realise that track position is more important when it comes to beating Mercedes! Not pitting early and hoping to catch them!
I imagine Lewis who despite what some think is rather a good driver was just managing his race early on, to suggest he would have sat behind Seb for 40 odd laps and be unable to pass is in my view laughable.
2nd was our best chance today based on Nico being Nico and that's what we got, we have improved but we still have a long way to go to be matching Merc and Lewis.
