It might be a boring race, if Ferrari gets on 2nd row as its a 1stop race.

Looks like kimi's SS run isn't very good, Williams look quite good on softs... but how was kimi's soft tyre run?

Its only friday ladies and gents. We've seen in the past Ferrari tends to be quicker on Sat whilst others dont improve that much especialy Merc. Usualy what you see on friday with Merc is what you'll see on Sat they just improve maybe about 0.5 whilst we make bigger gains close to 1 sec in some weekends. If we did bolt on the new power unit then its good that we did not have any mechanical failure and seb's PU failure was just electric problems. Looks very promising as Raikkonen was running at 328km/h at the speed trap and the fastest was 329km/h by bottas I think I'm not realy sure on where it was Bottas or whoever but it was a Merc powered car

Gear box change for Sebastian Vettel, 5 place pen. Damage sustained after 1st corner incident in China, unrelated to electrical issue in FP2.

What the hell do we have to do to get a clean weekend without any reliability gremlins or penalties, this just isn't the way to win championships. I worry that Seb will be getting frustrated and Kimi isn't happy with the balance either, also there seem to be conflicting views on whether or not the new-spec engine is being used. I know it's only FP but the omens are not looking very good at this stage, despite ending up with respectable times.

When are we going to catch a break. Seriously the fourth race in and we still haven't had a clean weekend and a proper straight fight with merc. Dare I say it but maybe a Hamilton win this weekend might not be so bad. Another win for Rosberg will really but a big spanner into our championship hopes. We l probably start no higher than 7th place now and that puts us into a dangerous spot come first corner..

It's always a worry getting through the first corner cleanly, what happened in China after starting on the 2nd row was bad enough....let's see how it pans out with Seb's eventual grid position, at least we know we can fight back from a poor start if needed. But we desperately need a win and nothing else is good enough.

Don't think we will get the win here. Actually I would be happy with a podium, a double podium would be a dream

Kimi not entirely happy with handling yet

It was not an ideal day, one of those days you struggle to make the tires work and get the car where you want. I wasn’t doing any proper lap, but today it’s only practice, I’m sure we can improve for tomorrow. Overall I think we just have to work on the set up to make it as we want and then it should be ok. We have a new engine and new parts on the car, so far it has been working well. We wouldn’t use any new thing if we did not expect it to be good.

Seb unfazed by electric problem in practice

Looks like we had an electric problem, but I am sure we can fix it. Still, it is a shame, because now we are lacking some laps, especially in the long runs on race trims, which would have allowed us to see how competitive we are. But Kimi did the homework for the team, so it is not too bad. Also, here in Russia we know roughly what to expect. I think we can still learn a lot from what other people did. In Qualifying trim we still have some stuff to improve. I think the car was getting better though. The track was quite dirty in the morning and then during the day it came more towards us. I felt happier as the day continued, it’s true that for the race we are lacking a bit of information, but we will see tomorrow morning, when we have another practice session.

Yes, that is how I see it too. The problem, here in Russia is Stefa, they don't even need to press the button, that is what worries me, A LOT !

Kimi said that rear was waspish...I did use google translate to get that word, never heard before..it means maybe angry, so I believe he means that there is more power than earlier, but balance is not right, yet.

It's not strange that he doesn't feel good about the car. As he doesn't speak much, leave him on the track. He will do, wt he can only do.
But the worrying sign is long runs, didn't look good. We r way behind Williams race pace also.
I think Ferrari ran with detuned engines. Hope to see better performance today.
