This kind of farce is just another reason for a casual viewer to conclude that F1 has lost its way. Too complicated with too many rules and regs, tyre and aero influence, all we ask for is proper racing without all these additional gimmicks trying to spice up the show. A complete re-boot is needed, and for quali it should be back to the previous format before Bahrain.

what an utter joke F1 is as a sport.
What other sport can change its rules and formats like an infants needs a diaper.

So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.

This will go down in the books as the qualifying brain fart experiment. I still don't believe what they did even though I saw it! Stupifyingly dumb experiment!

I think the new format was great for Q1 and Q2. Q3 should be a regular 12 minute session however.

    Breaking News - New Qualy Format a ROUSING SUCCESS ! ! !

According to Formula 1's official website this was a fantastic qualifying?

F1 qualifying’s new quick-fire elimination format provided a highly intriguing session in Melbourne on Saturday, as Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton secured pole position for the 2016 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix, three-tenths up on team mate Nico Rosberg.
    Are they in denial... much?

Since this new "format provided a highly intriguing session in Melbourne", we will immediately be throwing it in the bin.

I wonder why Jean Todt, the FIA president, nor Bernie Ecclestone did not show up in Melbourne.

Regrettably, the threat of this elimination nonsense isn't over yet. After a moment of catharsis, F1 is still determined to run itself.

    Run or Ruin?

Wait what? I thought they were reverting back to last year's model in Bahrain?

Looked like it. But there's couple of people (Hembery and sadly even Jean Todt) who are pushing for the new hybrid system... So the games probably did not end. However drivers are uite furious about the changes they are doing in F1 and the driver association did already sent a letter to FIA and FOM and just to everyone that they are not happy about how the way rules are being changed and they are calling for changes before the sport will be damaged even more.

So some light at the end of the tunnel

Sounds like the FIA will take the letter and carefully wipe their butts with it.

I know there are contractual and legal obligations/repercussions but if drivers/teams sit out
a race or two FIA/FOM could be forced to be more realistic? Retain the kind of abortion as
last Saturday's qualifying evidenced? They may as well take a hammer and hit themselves
over the head-the exercise and the results are MORONIC.

The publication of the GPDA' s views on F1 and what worries they have about its future, then Bernie's nonsensical response, and now the retention of the elimination quali for Bahrain.....have they all gone completely mad?!

"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

Idiots. I hope exactly the same as in Australia will happen.

The pinnacle of motorsport has been mis-managed into an absolute joke.

I took part in an online poll regarding the new quali format. At the time I voted to say it was terrible, 93% of other voters thought the same and over 15,000 people had voted. The sight of drivers being weighed 2 minutes before the end of Q3 was sad and says it all.

I'm not going to tune in to quali until they change the format - maybe reduced viewing figures would persuade them to see sense.

Will probably not be staying up late or getting up early to watch F1 live anymore.
They have ruined the excitement factor of qualifying.
Racing is all about getting to the finish line the fastest.
Not all this artificial crap, so they get rid of refueling, but then they make teams run two different tire compounds, so they still have to make pitstops.
    .
    .
    Changes aren't permanent........But change is.
    ALL LIVES MATTER... EVEN YOURS
