Everybody will have updates for the last 2 races. Even Lotus will come with an updated Coanda exhaust said to be good for 6 horsepower and the same down force as Abu Dahbi. Ferrari must be better than Lotus, Macca and Red Bull, all of whom were faster than Ferrari at Yaz.
Actually, Lotus will have updates as well. They tested their new exhaust at India but did not use it at Yaz, so it will see its first race use in Austin, and they will have a new front wing. So far as Ferrari is ocncerned, that is everybody that matters. Five of those six drivers are capable of finishing ahead of Alonso, so Ferrari will need to have all of their updates perform as hoped.
Bianchi tests Ferrari improvements for Alonso
Nov.12 (GMM/Inautonews.com) Ferrari is still pushing hard to give Fernando Alonso a title-winning Ferrari for the final back-to-back head-to-head with Sebastian Vettel.
With Red Bull and Vettel’s qualifying problems allowing Alonso to claw back 3 points in Abu Dhabi, the Spaniard is still 10 points adrift with just Austin and Brazil to go.
And with the red F2012 still not a match for the Adrian Newey-penned RB8, Alonso said after finishing second in Abu Dhabi: “We need to keep working and in Maranello they work day and night to bring new parts.”
Indeed, the Spanish sports daily Marca reports that, following two similar straightline aerodynamic outings recently, Ferrari has been back in action at the Idiada facility in Spain.
At the wheel of the car was Frenchman Jules Bianchi, who as well as being Force India’s test driver is also in Ferrari’s development ‘academy’.
Marca said Bianchi was testing a new rear wing and diffuser, while other Spanish reports said the F2012 featured even more new parts than that.
“With Fernando, you don’t have to give him the best car,” Marc Gene, another Ferrari test driver, told El Confidencial.
“You just have to give him one with which he can fight the best car, and he will do the rest.
“The team is working hard to give him the best car possible.”
Mark Webber, Vettel’s teammate but a better friend of Alonso’s, said recently that if it rains as the championship showdown looms, punters might be wise to put money on the Spaniard.
Gene said: “The forecast for the US and Brazil suggests that they could be wet races, and we know that the Ferrari has proved a very reliable car when water appears.”
The first title showdown will be at Austin’s brand new Circuit of the Americas this weekend.
A local meteorologist told the Austin American Statesman newspaper: “The best rain chances come Saturday evening into Sunday, but they are still very slight, about 20 per cent.”

i think the lotus struggled on the prime tyre though, compared to alonso. once alonso had heat in the prime tyre he was catching kimi quite quickly. and the macca's werent so strong on the option. remember india? they eat through the options really quickly. so once again, tyres will probably decide this championship, and unfortunatley, vettels red bull seems to like any tyre they throw on it
Well said,I will tell all Ferrari fans now we will win this WDC, i will concede we may not have the fastest car, but we do have a very reliable car. We are at the stage of the season where reliability will come into play, engine gearbox alternators as Fernando would say ETC. Oh and we do have FERNANDO ALONSO........
Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Fernando Alonso did over 200 laps in one day last week on his personal simulator in his house in Oviedo, Spain.
Alonso and Ferrari preparing the best they can..hope they rewarded for their efforts..
I Will End My Career At Ferrari...
Fernando knows it. We know it. Everybody knows it.Winning with Ferrari makes it more special
Because it is difficult so Ferrari and Fernando have to work very hard.
Hope that we will be paid back.
Our glory days are comming.
"there are still many differences between the wind tunnel and data who have experienced the track".
this is from last test in Spain, and there is the source of this story

At Yaz, India and Korea, Lotus was down on the top end speed. At Yaz in particular, Kimi was good in sectors 1 & 3, but was slow in sector 2. Their new upgrade exhaust is supposed to deliver an additional 6 hp and the same downforce. That could bring them even on top end. Lotus are a threat, and Ferrari need to find a way to put Nando ahead of Kimi or Finger Boy may be out of reach.
Not sure about that. Considering Fernando climbed up all the way from 5, passing cars and lapping behind others, I'd say that some 5-6 second gap was opened up due to that. Still Fernando came close to +1 second behind Kimi...may have come closer still had he pushed a bit earlier who knows. So Lotus being faster on race pace is not that clear cut.
Lotus admitted having trouble in last stint with tyre management and Ferrari admitted that they didn't want to push too early with Fernando in last stint because not knowing would tyres last till end! If Fernando pushed Kimi four laps earlier, maybe he could won!
But looking how F2012 behave in last laps in middle of some corners , I am not sure would the tyres last till end.
Both are very clever drivers and have suffered severe tyre degrading this year when racing at the front.
They where rightly afraid of reaching the [cliff] before the end of the race so kept the pace accordingly.
Alonso went for it in the closing stages but Raikonen controlled his attack in a very skillful way.
Kimi was genuinely in trouble at end of the race and he wasn't just controlling the race pace. He was very lucky that the race ended before Alonso could've had a chance to make a serious attack on him. If only Alonso had started to push like 2 or 3 laps earlier then I think he would've won that race.
Nov-12 MODIFICHE FERRARI PER AUSTIN - ANCORA ERRORI TRA GALLERIA E PISTA
Very worrying this!!
Metin mete.

@Dino guy on F1technical Forum wrote this about that article, and he is Italian...
this kind of website, unfortunately, are not affordable. (and i say that being an italian guy)
most of all italian website/blog/forum, just translate a news (fake or not, sometimes they translate also bad !) from english website/forum (also this one)/blog or copy between themself (italian website).
i don't wanna say that this news is a 100% fake, but i can't find any other source about that and the same website sometimes wrote something right, often something that wasn't right.
