Imagine if Eddie had been WDC in 1999 and thus been the one to break the 20 year Ferrari drought!!!!!!!!!!!, he would have had to live in water or space as his head would have been too big for his body to support it

I really cannot see Button at Ferrari. Granted he's a fairly OK driver and has made some great calls from the car during races but that's about it.
Of course he will not deny any connection with Ferrari in the future as it's good for his stock.
For me he lacks charisma and is a pretty wishy washy character. Probably doesn't speak Italian either. (I know Michael didn't but he was an exceptional driver)

Eddie did have the charisma, banter and playboy image and he spoke decent Italian.
When interviewed he told it how it was or evaded the question------no corporate speak from him!!!!!
Must admit I prefer Ferrari drivers to be Latin-------just goes with the image.

There again it could be argued that Eddie brought Ferrari their first WCC in 20 years and his head didn't even grow a fraction of a centimetre.

I think a lot of the things Eddie says are very tongue in cheek. He's not as arrogant or flippant as he makes out IMO.

He He he's only human -----well very human maybe.
IMO Eddie, James Hunt, John Alesi, Juan Paublo will always be remembered with affection.
(Many people here will not agree but cela vie)
Apart from JH the others didn't need to be WDC's to be loved and remembered----it must be their personalities!
Unfortunately to-days GP drivers have to use corporate speak. There is no room for loose cannons now----sadly.
I used to love the way Eddie would run when he saw Louise Goodman coming to interview him.
Louise: Eddie how do you think you will do to-day.
Eddie (with a twinkle in his eye) I'll tell you after the race.
Eddie you are missed. Martin Brundle always tried to find Irv for a quote.

Massa got snapped up by Ferrari when Button was available.

The statistics on that website are for a driver's entire career

Button and Massa both have 11 wins in F1. Using their entire career is like saying Sebastian Bourdais has a billion trillion wins, maybe so but they are all in lesser formulas/series...

So the win percentage works out to about 5% for Button and 7% for Massa...

His job role has changed however - he is now Lewis Hamilton's performance yardstick!

I look forward to him continuing to beat Lewis (but hopefully not us).
Seriously... did anyone really believe he was coming to Ferrari?

"If I have the chance to win another World Championship with a team instead of losing one at Ferrari, then Ferrari would not be an option. For me it does not depend on the name, the emotion or the legend, but on the possibilities. In other words, if I were at the end of my career and never drove for Ferrari, I would not be sad."

Clearly he is not the right person with the right mindset Surely losing at Ferrari is worth more than winning at Mclaren

Am I allowed to do this ? ( not sure so will understand if it gets taken off. I snagged this comment from Planet 1 site ....

Jenson Button believes it is best to have a No 1 driver and a No 2 driver if you want to win the World Championship.

The World Motor Sport Council's decision to scrap the ban on team orders from this season onwards means team can now openly back one driver up to the hilt. Although Ferrari have never publicly stated that Fernando Alonso is their No 1 driver and Felipe Massa their No 2, they have made no secret of the fact that the Spaniard is their go-to guy in terms of challenging for the Championship.

McLaren on the other hand have always maintained that both their drivers are equal.

Button, though, feels when it comes to battling for the title, it's best to put all your eggs in one basket.

Will he still think so if Lewis was doing well and not him ?????
"Michael showed that he is the greatest. He stole the show today. And he did that without even winning the race." comments from Willi Weber
