Ferrari had hoped that a race complicated by rain might see its drivers regain some of the places lost in a less than satisfactory qualifying performance yesterday. It worked in part, as Felipe Massa produced a faultless drive to finish the Belgian Grand Prix in fourth place, having started sixth, but Fernando Alonso had a very unlucky day: on the opening lap, the Spaniard was the innocent victim, as Rubens Barrichello, in his three hundredth grand prix appearance, lost control of his Williams, crashing into the F10 at the chicane, so that Fernando had to limp back to the pits rejoining in eighteenth place, after the mechanics fitted intermediate tyres to deal with rain that was much less intense that expected.

This meant he then had to make a further stop to return to slicks. From then on, he battled his way up the order, but it all came to nothing with a spin seven laps from the flag, that left his F10 beached on a kerb, parked across the track. ...

PF1: We heard you been doing them team orders, we told you not to do them team orders, them is the RULEZ!

Stefano: Were is the order? I didn't hear any order given for Massa to move over.

*Radio communication is played back in court*

Rob Smedley ''Fernando is faster than you, can you confirm you understand that message?''

Stefano: See, no order was given, Felipe was simply told Alonso was faster, he then choose of his own free will to move over, case closed.

Fernando Alonso produced a sensational drive to finish second in the Hungarian Grand Prix, while Felipe Massa delivered a faultless performance on his return to the Hungaroring, finishing where he started in fourth place. In fact, the thirty points the Scuderia takes into the summer break is probably slightly more than expected, given the week long dominance of the Red Bulls, who finished first and third courtesy of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel.

The race was more interesting than might have been expected at this twisty track, where overtaking is so difficult. As everyone in the Ferrari garage had hoped, starting from third on the clean side of the track, Fernando got the jump on Webber at the start to go second behind Vettel, while Felipe stayed fourth. When the Safety Car came out on lap 15 for debris to be cleared, almost the entire field pitted at the same time, which caused chaos ...

Ferrari rebooted their challenge for the title with a commanding one-two finish in today’s 67 lap German Grand Prix. Although they are still third in the Constructors’ Championship, they have closed the gap to second placed Red Bull Racing from 84 to 64 points. Fernando Alonso stood on the top step of the podium for the first time since the opening round in Bahrain, and Felipe Massa finished second, also reprising his position at the Sakhir circuit. Joining them on the podium was the Red Bull of pole man Sebastian Vettel.

If the fact that Fernando Alonso recorded the fastest race lap in the British Grand Prix confirms how much the F10 has improved in recent weeks, sadly Sunday’s final result did not reflect this: The Spaniard finished fourteenth, with team-mate Felipe Massa one place behind him. The race was won by Mark Webber for Red Bull, ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren, with Nico Rosberg completing the podium trio for Mercedes. Punctures for both our drivers and a contentious drive-through penalty for Fernando ruined their races, which had looked so encouraging yesterday afternoon, after they had secured third and seventh places on the grid.

Fernando Alonso took the chequered flag at the end of the 57 laps of the European Grand Prix in ninth place and Felipe Massa in fourteenth. The race was completely ruined for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro duo because of a badly managed Safety Car period and there was further chaos after the race, with no less than 9 drivers brought before the Stewards for an infringement during the neutralised part of the race: meagre compensation, their penalties moved Fernando and Felipe up to eighth and eleventh respectively: meagre indeed, when the podium had beckoned from the start. On the podium, Sebastian Vettel was the winner for Red Bull, with the McLaren duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button finishing in second and third places respectively.

For the first time since the Spanish Grand Prix, a Ferrari driver has stepped onto the podium today, as Fernando Alonso finished third for Scuderia Ferrari behind a second consecutive one-two finish for McLaren, Lewis Hamilton winning from Jenson Button. To say Felipe Massa had a difficult day is an understatement and the Brazilian eventually came home in fifteenth place, needing two nose changes on his F10, the first on the opening lap after he was sandwiched between Button and Tonio Liuzzi and the Force India driver collided with him and the second in the closing stages when again he was the victim, this time when he was involved in an incident with Michael Schumacher.
